The CBSE conducts a common admission test (AIEEE) for the admission in the under graduate courses in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture in 18 NITs across the India and some other reputed Engineering Colleges.

First of all this exam is objective in nature which aim at:

• Testing the subject knowledge and conceptual strength of the student taking the exam.
  

• Testing the speed as the student is required to read, understand, solve and mark the answers in approximately 2 min per question (on an average), as the paper consists of approx 90 Qs (AIEEE) to be answered in 3Hrs.

• Testing the accuracy level of the student.

• The questions are of varying levels of difficulty and time consumption, there by adding to the high grade competitiveness required for the student to get selected.

• The exam also follow negative marking scheme for the incorrect answers to promote the learning capabilities and discourage the habit of guess work, which is inherent in a large number of students.
